65 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS
Halloween | Thanksgiving | Christmas | Crazy!
It is that time of year and we all say “where has the time gone”. With the festive season on our doorstep, we are looking at a few easy decisions and choices we can make to stay healthy during the party season and just enough time to make a few positive changes before we say farewell to 2019
Let’s start with WHY.
Always have a why, and there are no right or wrongs, but it will help you remember WHY you started your journey.
Start dating again?
Prove everybody wrong who said, “you can’t do it?”
Because you just want to look good naked?
Keep that reason for wanting a better life at the front of your mind at all times.
This WHY will help you to keep going when it’s raining, you’re exhausted, or you had an awful day at work.
We have all heard that “a six-pack gets made in the kitchen” and it is true.
80% of your success when it comes to getting healthy will depend on your diet and food choices – you cannot outrun your fork, and you can’t out-train a bad diet. F A C T
We have teamed up with Fresh Fitness Food to supply members with chef-prepared meals to their homes, daily, to help them have all the nutritious food at arm’s length to smash their goals. Body Works West members enjoy 10% off with code: BWW10
Most people can’t stick with nutritional and lifestyle changes because they try to make too many changes all at once, your stomach & headspace freak out and back to the comfort foods you go.
Many popular diets are restrictive and hard to integrate into your life in the long run, remember “temporary changes create temporary results”
For the most part, we are all familiar with having SMART goals.
(specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely).
Be very specific with your goals so that you can actively plan what steps are needed to achieve those goals:
“I’m going to lose 2 stone by going to the gym 3 times per week for the next 6 months.”
Alternatively, if you are somebody that NEVER succeeds at your goals, instead put the focus on forming a habit rather than a goal.
“I’m going to Body Works West 4 times this week” by making it to the gym, you win.”
If you are setting goals – be SUPER SPECIFIC, write them down, and plan them out.
If you are building new habits – add them to your calendar, set phone alarms or alerts, and do them EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Always remember that your journey is NOT a diet, or a quick fix, but instead a lifestyle change.
Don’t expect overnight results or abs in two weeks. Slow, steady progress.
Identify your Kryptonite and think back to the last time(sssssssss) you tried to get in shape and achieve those elusive goals
• How successful were you?
• How long did you stick with it?
• What made you fall off the wagon?
If you failed, that is half the battle won, you now know which “get in shape” method doesn’t work for you.
“Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results = insanity”
P R E A C H
Unless you enjoy not getting your results, don’t try to get in shape the same way you did last time…it won’t work.
Find an activity that makes you happy, and do it all of the time.
Do you like to run? Awesome, do that, we have great new treadmills.
Do you like to lift weights? Great, we got your covered from bodyweight TRX to kettlebells and everything in-between.
Maybe you like Yoga, Reformer Pilates, spinning or dancing, we are waiting for you as we have them all.
You say “I don’t like to exercise,”
We say “you just haven’t found the activity that makes you happy yet”
We’re genetically designed to be active, so get up and get moving AND loving it.
You need Support, FACT.
We all want to be Indiana Jones or the Lone Ranger and get those results flying solo, but alas, you need a support system.
Once you decide to get in shape, there are a few steps you can put in place to help the process along.
Tell your friends, document your journey on social media, tell your co-workers and ask everyone to keep you accountable!
Unless you like being called a quitter, you’ll probably think twice about skipping out on your workouts or having that second helping of pumpkin pie.
Find people who are stronger and more advanced in their journey than you and work out with them and ask them questions and learn from their failures and successes.
Find a workout buddy or hire a PT as there are going to be days when you want to sleep in and skip your workout. Find someone with similar goals to you and dedicated to their results and work out together and motivate each other to keep going!
You can support each other motivate each other’s success and banish all negative talk and those unavoidable moans that are lying ahead.
Make today the first day of your new and improved journey.
Pick a goal that you hope to accomplish in the next 65 days (till Christmas) and start working towards it.
