My career in the fitness industry began way back in 2004, however in the midst of what was a really positive time in my career my physical and mental well-being started to deteriorate. I gained weight, developed depression, suffered with chronic pain, migraines and digestive issues. Having not got any results with help from other practitioners, I decided to learn how to take charge of my health and treat myself well. I was given the opportunity to work and live in Dubai and also became the fitness columnist for Al Arabiya news and produced weekly articles and video blogs. In December 2013 I travelled to San Diego California and spent 3 months learning to become a Master Trainer with Functional Patterns. The body then can then, intrinsically be wired to be resistant to gravity and transfer force in the most leveraged fashion, ensuring a long life of pain-free movement. CORRECTIVE EXERCISE An unconventional approach to corrective exercise is used to facilitate new connections. known as “re-tensioning” the key muscles that are dormant, this way the correct biomechanics within movement can be understood and applied TRANSITIONAL We use multi-plane ballistic movements that replicate both real life and athletic situations so your body is prepared for any movement demands it will face. SLING TRAINING We utilise sling movement training that neurologically and physiologically connect long chains/slings of muscles that are designed to function together Such as the AOS (anterior oblique sling) and POS (posterior oblique sling). This is critical because these are the same chains and slings that become disconnected through bad movement strategies and postural habits. GAIT Mastering an efficient gait patterns is key to reestablishing your bio-mechanical foundations. As the gait cycle is the main fundamental type of movement that is utilised 99% of the time in human motion STRENGTH AND PERFORMANCE The manner in which Functional Patterns approaches strength and performance is entirely different to the mainstream. Traditional training is heavily oriented around vertical force and compression, isolated weight lifting, and one dimensional movements. Our strength training is applied in a way that translates directly over to athletics, running and even walking. Advanced movers have bodies that function in a certain way and Functional Patterns training will install the mechanical tools needed get humans moving at a high level.
